Circumferential Seals

It takes a tough company to make a seal that keeps its cool when heat is on.

Circumferential seals are durable seals designed to fit around the shaft. They minimize leakage of fluid or gases by either sealing directly against the shaft (segmented seal) or by using a closely controlled clearance between the floating circumferential ring and a rotating shaft (bushing seal).

Temperature ranges are exceptionally wide since no elastomers are used.

Qualiseal’s circumferential seals have a compact construction which simplifies installation in those applications where space is limited. Available with a removable snap ring, the circumferential seal assemblies are easily disassembled and repaired on site.

Types of Circumferential Seals:

Controlled
Gap/Bushing
Segmented

Benefits:

  • Can be used at high temperatures (since no elastomers are used)
  • Easy, fast installation in tight spaces minimizes downtime and maintenance costs
  • Very low heat generation (negligible horsepower loss)
  • Leakage rates remain constant over the life of the seal
  • Can be used independently or part of a seal system
  • Life expectancy of over 40,000 hours or 6,000 starts/stops (depending on use and operating conditions)

Features:

  • Compact construction
  • Controlled tolerance
  • Unique stabilized ring with fins
  • Optional silicon carbide floating rings
