LABYRINTH SEALS FOR ROTATING SHAFTS | TYPE 905 LABYRINTH (CONTROLLED GAP SEAL)
Type 905 labyrinth seals are durable bushing type seals designed to minimize leakage of gases by using a closely controlled clearance between the floating labyrinth ring and a rotating shaft. The labyrinth seals temperature ranges are exceptionally wide since no elastomers are used. Their design also features a unique stabilizer ring with fins which minimize stress on the carbon ring, thereby maintaining roundness of the labyrinth ring assembly. Dimensional tolerance of the critical inside diameter of the bushing ring is tightly controlled to minimize leakage variations.
Type 905 labyrinth seals have a compact construction which simplifies installation in those applications where space is limited. These seals are completely factory assembled for fast, easy installation. Available with a removable snap ring, the labyrinth ring assemblies are easily disassembled and repaired on site. Full functional static vacuum tests are performed on the labyrinth ring face. Optional functional static flow rate tests are also available.
