MECHANICAL FACE SEALS

Type 903 is the stationary portion of the mechanical face seal that mates up against the rotating mating ring, bearing, or shaft.  The sealing element (seal face) in the stationary portion provides the low friction wear element that rides on the harder wear MECHANICAL FACE SEALSresistant mating surface.  Both the seal face and mating surfaces are typically lapped flat to within 3 helium light bands (0.0000348 inches), which provide a virtually leak tight sealing between the seal configuration.

Type 903 stationary mechanical face seal can utilize either an O-ring on the outer diameter in a slip fit application, or can be designed to press fit into the seal bore of your unit.

Type 903 seal featuring an O-ring secondary seal designed with optimum compression providing for long life and reliable performance.  Several elastomeric compounds or PTFE secondary sealing options are available for a variety of fluid and temperature applications.

Type 903 Seals are designed incorporating seal face material grades encompassing a wide range of applications, including high-pressure velocity (PV) applications.

Type 903 seals are ideal for high-speed and vibration applications and are available in either unbalanced or balanced designs for optimum performance in the most demanding aerospace or industrial seal applications.

With the aid of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), the design is optimized to meet or exceed the most extreme operating conditions.

Operating Conditions

  • Pressure from full vacuum to 500 PSIG
  • Temperatures: -65°F to +450°F
